Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, magnification, or reduced-motion settings.

Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These are the widely used guidelines for making websites usable by people with disabilities.

What we've done

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard, and there is a link to skip straight to the main content.
  • Images have text descriptions, and pages use proper headings so screen readers can move through them.
  • Text and buttons are checked for color contrast.
  • If your device is set to reduce motion, animations are turned off, and the lift station illustration becomes a step-by-step version you move through with Back and Next buttons.
  • The site works on phones, tablets, and desktops, and when zoomed in.

We test the site with automated accessibility tools and by hand, and we fix problems as we find them. Some content, such as photographs of equipment, may not be fully described, and we keep working on it.
